Scoring Tool (Bread Lame)
Scoring Tool (Bread Lame)
Our scoring tool is hand made in an exclusive partnership with veteran owned, Anchorage based wood worker, Arctic Appalachian.
Our scoring tool provides a secure hold for the blade while covering sections that catch and tear dough on other lames. The small sleek design is as compact as a lame can get and offers great control for detailed scoring artwork.
Every loaf of artisanal sourdough bread must be cut or ‘scored’ before going in the oven. This score allows for the loaf to rapidly rise in the oven, expanding at the cut(s) where intended.
This tool is commonly referred to by its french name ‘lame’; Pron “lahm”, meaning ‘blade’
Please note: Lame contains a double edged razor blade.
A portion of all profits at Frontiersman Sourdough are donated to environmental conservation in Alaska.
